IDEAS AND TRAINING
Change Management Training Videos
Without change, nothing happens. Change is our friend. Change is exciting. But change in scary. Sometimes it frightens us and adds stress to our daily lives. The worst aspect of change is that change represents the unknown. We can't control the unknown, but we can prepare for it. Things are going to happen. It's good if we can predict them, but we can't always do that. What we can do is present an attitude that takes advantage of change . . . the future . . . and the unkown.

Forget for Success: Walking Away From Outdated Counterproductive Beliefs and People Practices (cc)
In a world that bombards you with things to remember, true success may rest in your ability to forget!
Excess mental baggage can unconsciously weigh you down, hold you back, and take up precious space in your brain.
Regardless of our good intentions, each of us is susceptable to flawed beliefs and behaviors that negatively impact us, the people we work with, the environments we work in, and the results we get.
Dump this data from our memory banks -- forget these counterproductive ideas, practices, and habits -- and we're well on our way to becoming more successful leaders... and more successful people.

WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT
Damaging consequences can result if changes in the workplace are not communicated effectively. Failure to provide information to managers and empower them to pass these facts along to other employees can lead to job dissatisfaction and reduced productivity. In clear, direct, face-to-face staff briefings where questions can be asked and answered, fears can be minimized.
The Grapevine demonstrates how open and honest communication can preempt devastating effects on the organization, such as loss of job commitment or resignation of key staff. The clear guidelines in this program sharpen skills and promote open communication. 31 minutes.

Aim
Demonstrates how to manage change successfully and shows individuals how to respond to change when it happens to them.
The video
Jamie’s School Dinners: A recipe for managing and living with change brings change to life in an inspirational and straightforward way. The program comes in two parts and is full of learning points for you and your workforce. The program shows managers how to deal with this sensitive subject area in three simple stages.
This video was shot in documentary style and puts you into the action. Jamie Oliver wants to change the eating habits of school children, by giving them nutricious food at school. The cooks are used to service junk food, the kids are used to eating junk food, the parents are used the children being happy with their food at school. Into this mixture is added the element of change. All of a sudden no one is happy. The cooks aren't happy, the children aren't happy, the parents aren't happy . . . and Jamie's not happy. This wonderful series opens up the discussion box for comments and questions the opening scenes.
Part 1: A recipe for managing change
This part is specifically aimed at those who need to manage change in their organisation.
It uses the situations Jamie faced during his war against junk food and breaks them down into four key lessons to help you manage change more effectively:

Passion - the belief in what you are trying to achieve, coupled with a clear vision of how you are going to achieve it. People - everyone reacts differently to change, there are three types of people that can be clearly identified.
Planning - careful planning is needed when implementing change and can determine whether it will be accepted or not.
Perseverance - with change you can nearly always guarantee resistance so determination is a must.
Length: 26 Minutes

Part 2: A recipe for living with change
In this part we look at how change affects your workforce. Every employee will face change of some kind virtually every day, so it’s vital they know how to cope with it. By showing your employees the four different stages of change, the change process will be much easier to embrace.
The stages they can expect to go through are:

Reject it - the initial reaction to change is always the same – denial. By denying change it’s wrong to assume it will go away.
Resist it - ‘I was right to think that’ is the next logical reaction. Any explanation, no matter how implausible, can be used to rationalise the initial denial.
Reflect on it - at this stage previous judgement begins to be questioned. The mind suddenly switches on to the possibilities that change might bring.
Resolve it - change is welcomed with open arms. The challenge and excitement of new opportunities has triumphed over all the negative perceptions of change.

The aerospace industry, anchor of the local economy, was left in ruins. In the aftermath, business and civic leaders sought to reinvent San Diego—a microcosm of America. They envisaged a city of the future: a high-tech center for software development, biomedical research, and wireless communications that would drive San Diego’s economic growth into the next century. Neil Whitely-Ross, Vice President of the San Diego Economic Development Corporation, is a leading strategist and pitchman for the city. Whitely-Ross’s mission is to attract high-end jobs to San Diego by aggressively selling the advantages of cheap labor in Mexico to companies all across America, and to their global competitors. Restoring Quality—Hathaway Shirts
- Part of the series: Managing Corporate Change
Don Sappington, former CEO of Maine’s Bass Shoe Company, was handpicked to run the Hathaway Shirt Company after its Park Avenue owner, Linda Wachner, CEO of Warnaco, decided to close the plant. After workers protested the shutdown, former Maine Governor Jock McKernon put together a group of investors to buy Hathaway from Wachner, and then hired Sappington as CEO. Hathaway was a Maine tradition. The factory had operated in Waterville for 160 years. But with low-cost foreign imports hurting the domestic garment industry in the 1990s, Linda Wachner turned to cutting costs sharply, which also hurt shirt quality. When Wachner’s strategy failed, she decided to abandon the plant. But the people of Maine rallied to save this proud Maine institution, raising the investment money and the backing of federal, state, and local governments. Sappington decided to restore traditional Hathaway quality, convinced that appealing to the high end of the market would make Hathaway profitable again. (30 minutes)

The One to One Future: Building Relationships One Customer At a Time
NO ISSUE IS MORE CRITICAL TO THE SUCCESS OF YOUR BUSINESS THAN HOW YOU THINK ABOUT YOUR CUSTOMERS!
International consultants Don Peppers and Martha Rogers, Ph.D., founders of marketing 1:1, have formulated a revolutionary response to the declining effectiveness of old technologies and mass marketing techniques for reaching profitable, new customers. Now the authors of The One to One Future: Building Relationships One Customer At a Time will help you tap emerging technologies to build a marketing program based on key customer identification, satisfaction and retention.
Tom Peters said the The One To One Future "makes my 'close to the customer' axiom from In Search of Excellence pale by comparison." George Gendron, Editor-In-Chief of Inc. Magazine, called it "one of the two or three most important business books ever written."
Now this breakthrough book has become a breakthrough video. Peppers and Rogers present their radically new way of thinking about business-- a new way to visualize the fundamentals of competition no matter what field you're in. And they do it with simple, persuasive examples from today's businesses that every executive will be able to relate to-- ways that smart companies like MCI, Ritz Carlton, Walden Books and United Airlines are using new information and communications technologies today to gain an edge over their competitors. Accessible, lively, and eminently practical, Sacred Cows (based on the #1 Best Selling Buisness Book by Dr. Robert Kriegel) teaches you how to develop the change-ready mind-set to respond quickly to the exciting changes, challenges and opportunities of the 21st century.
Many sacred cows begin as good ideas. But, as the way we do business changes, what was once common sense can lose its relevance. Getting everyone involved in the hunt helps to develop a change-ready work environment. Every person in every department has a unique perspective to add insight on products, customers, vendors, services, policies, procedures -- wherever sacred cows can hide.
There are many ways to implement "the hunt". Merck Pharmaceutical held cow barbeques and Williams Pipeline held "No Bull" contests. Many companies start by first giving management teams a chance to round up the more obvious sacred cows.

Soaring with the Phoenix (cc)
Dr. James A. Belasco, professor of Business Management at San Diego State University and Jerre Stead, CEO and Chairman of Ingram Micro Company, share insights about their need for continual renewal from their book Soaring With the Phoenix in this video program written and narrated by Collin Siedor and produced by Dystar Television, Inc.
The video program profiles three highly successful organizations that have taken the renewal spirit of the Phoenix to heart: Ingram Micro Company, the largest distributor of computer products in the world; the Sheraton Berkshire in Reading, Pennsylvania, owned by the Meyer-Jabara Hotel chain; and the U.S. Navy's North Island Naval Air Depot in California's San Diego Bay, where the Navy's Fleet of F-18 fighter aircraft go for repairs.
The success of these organizations can be attributed to, in part, four key tenets:
Turn over the responsibility for work to the people who do the work. Give people learning opportunities and facts that enable them to make key decisions Reward people for keeping customers always in their line of sight. Leave a legacy that makes a difference. CLOSED CAPTIONED

The Value Effect: Making the Obvious Apparent
John Guaspari says there will always be a next big thing. It will offer some real benefits, but, in all likelihood, will also fall short of accomplishing all of its hoped-for goals. Why? What’s missing is “context” – “a stabilizing, energizing context within which to take on the challenges of change.” That context is THE VALUE EFFECT. In this thought-provoking presentation, filled with stories as well as insights, Guaspari reveals the secret of THE VALUE EFFECT. “When people are focused on delivering the maximum value to customers, they get – and stay – energized.” What if your entire workforce was on the lookout for “gold switches” to maximize value to the customer?
Watch THE VALUE EFFECT for the answer to this transforming question.

The Winds of Change
Are your employees feeling victimized by change?
In the animated world of video, Change becomes a whirlwind monster that threatens the inhabitants. Two groups form in response to Change's threat: The Predictors of the Inevitable and The Pursuers of the Possible. The Predictors of the Inevitable expect the worst and prepare for it. The Pursuers of the Possible try every available means to overcome the monster. Eventually, the Pursuers and the Predictors join forces and together they seize Change as an opportunity to move forward toward their future.

The X Factor: Managing & Motivating Generation X with Claire Raines (cc)
America's primary labor supply for the next decade -- mostly in their teens and twenties -- represents the smallest population group in U.S. history and the thinnest pool of entry level workers in modern times. There simply are not enough of them to go around, particularly in the service industries. And every time a business loses an employee, the high cost fo attracting, hiring and training a replacement cuts into the profit margin.
Claire Raines is the nation's leading expert on Generation X. In this video, she will give you new information about generation X workers... who they are, what makes them different and how to develop successful ways of working with them.
