How to Get Things Done - Video

Too many people view the process of time-management as a survival exercise rather than a road map to success. They remember the old quote, "Time is money," and they panic! They are always just trying to survive, and not very well, the latest deadline crisis either in their office or at home. Well, it doesn't have to be this way at all. We can all learn to make the best use of our time either in the office or at home by putting into practice the techniques and skills found in How To Get Things Done.

With this video, audiocassette and book, you'll learn fresh new ideas and techniques on how to master your time. You'll discover how to avoid procrastination; how to deal with the deadly crunch of meetings, phone calls and deadlines; the tactics to say "no" when you must in difficult situations; how to set meaningful goals; how to delegate and not worry about the job getting done and how to establish priorities at home as well as at work!

Loaded with graphics and vignettes, this video program is a must-purchase for all who need help with time management - and don't we all!

    The Unorganized Manager - VIDEO

    WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT

    Part I: Damnation video
In this 1996 remake, St. Peter (John Cleese) reviews Lewis’s mortal sins including leaving jobs unfinished, missing deadlines, and making life pure hell for coworkers. We then discover the "11 Deadly Organizational Sins" and how to avoid them. With these life lessons in mind, St. Peter grants Lewis a second chance. 24 minutes.

    Part 2: Salvation video
In this 1996 remake, Richard Lewis still needs a few miracles. He can't set priorities, schedule time for active tasks, or allocate time for reactive tasks. Before Lewis can become a heavenly manager, he must learn to delegate, and to use time management aids such as a personal calendar. 26 minutes.

    Part 3: Divine Intervention video
In this 1997 remake, John Cleese is back as St. Peter, and he explains why it's important to clarify the responsibilities of each team member, set measurable standards, and agree upon performance targets. But it's really no miracle St. Peter is preaching, it's just a simple truth: people can only do a good job when they understand what they're supposed to be doing. 19 Minutes.

  • Establish priorities in terms of importance and urgency
  • Schedule active tasks and allow time for reactive tasks

What Makes Us Tick: A Study of Time and Human Biology - Video/DVD

Why does time seem to slow down before a car crash? Why do teenagers learn better in the afternoon? And how can musicians precisely divide a beat into as many as sixty-four parts? With exclusive access to leading researchers, new theories, and original experiments in both the U.S. and the U.K., this program analyzes the concept of time as human beings perceive it. Time-lapse and slow-motion photography, high-quality graphics, archival footage, and dramatizations enhance this exploration of circadian rhythms, time distortions, and the genes that actually make up the human biological clock. What's My Time Style?

Time management tools seem to be increasing in popularity everyday. There are paper planners, hand-held electronic planners, email schedule managers, planning software — all of which are intended to boost our productivity by organizing our days, hours, and minutes. Yet, why is it that these tools work for only some of us? It all has to do with our individual time management styles.

Traditional time management systems take a one-size-fits all approach. But in What’s My Time Style?, the goal is to encourage people to discover their own time style. They then can learn to make that style work for them rather than against them.

Research shows that the time management approach best suited to increasing an individual’s productivity largely depends on that individual’s behavioral style. This means that some people work best with the structure these popular tools offer, but for others, this structure can be frustrating and counter-productive.

What’s My Time Style? provides a simple and fun way to identify individual time management styles. Participants complete a series of unfinished statements relating to activities like project management, establishing priorities, and delegating.

Through their responses to these statements, individuals will:

  • Uncover a tendency toward one of 4 time management styles: spirited, direct, considerate, or systematic.
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses of their personal style.
  • Discover how to make their personal style work for them rather than against them.
  • Learn how to interact effectively with other time management styles.

Based on the popular behavioral style model found in our other What’s My Style? products, the 21-item participant booklet includes a description of the 4 behavioral styles, scoring, identification of strengths and trouble spots, time management suggestions for each style, and action planning.

The Facilitator Guide features theories of time management, explanation of how different behavioral styles manage time, tips to help different styles work together, administrative guidelines, training design, and transparency masters.

    How It Works
Participants respond to 21 pairs of adjectives, using a pressure-sensitive form. After scoring is complete, easy-to-read charts allow respondents to quickly scan the strengths and trouble spots that characterize their particular time management styles.

The Facilitator Guide includes optional activities that allow participants to practice capitalizing on their styles and using flexibility when working with other styles. In addition, each Participant Guide provides a personal action-planning worksheet so that individuals can apply what they’ve learned to the workplace.
